We have a goalie goal! 🚨
Tristan Jarry, Connor Dewar, and Mat Barzal had themselves a night!
Good morning.
Per usual, the Hockey Recap fam was all over yesterday’s poll, correctly predicting Jack Eichel would lead the bunch in scoring last night.
Hats off to you beauties.
Otherwise, what a night of NHL action, amirite?! A goalie goal, three hat tricks and five games decided in overtime or a shootout, let’s get into it!

Today’s Lineup:
Tristan Jarry makes Penguins history
Connor Dewar nets 1st NHL hat trick
Mathew Barzal scores OT winner plus 3 apples
And a lot more… 👇
🐧 Tristan Jarry scores 1st NHL goal, Pens down the Lightning 4-2. The 28-year-old netminder collected a late Lightning dump in and fired it into the empty net for his 1st NHL goal — he scored in the AHL on 11/14/18 — and the 1st goalie goal in Penguins history, while also collecting 39 saves so you could say the young man had himself a night. Down 2-0 to start the 2nd, Sidney Crosby sniped his 14th of the year and Drew O’Connor tied the game in the final minute of the period. Jeff Carter scored the game winner early in the 3rd as the Pens improve to 11-10-1 on the season. Read more →
🎩 Connor Dewar scores 1st career hat trick, Wild crush Predators 6-1. The Manitoba native opened scoring, burying a rebound off a 3-on-2 rush in the 1st, before sniping on a mini breakaway midway through the 2nd, and scoring a nifty goal in tight in the 3rd to complete his 1st NHL hat trick in his 137th career game. Not done there, Dewar had a 4th goal taken away due to a coach’s challenge and also assisted on Jake Middleton’s 1st period tally, while Kirill Kaprizov and Pat Maroon rounded out the Wild’s goal scoring. The Wild are 2-0-0 under new coach John Hynes. Read more →
4️⃣ Mathew Barzal collects 4 points including OT winner, Islanders defeat the Hurricanes 5-4. The right-handed speedy center assisted on Bo Horvat, Pierre Engvall, and Kyle Palmieri goals, before burying a one-timer 2:46 into overtime to record his 23rd point in 22 games this season while securing the Islanders’ win. Simon Holmstrom scored the lone New York goal that Barzal didn’t have a hand in and Semyon Varlamov made 39 saves. Despite recording a season-low 16 shots, the Islanders rallied from two deficits to improve to 9-7-6 on the season. Read more →
