Krug's five assists lead Blues past Canadiens 🎶

Plus, J.T. Miller snipes with 4.8 seconds remaining in OT, Rielly in-person hearing, and more.

Good morning. We hope you enjoyed a weekend full of hockey and even a little bit of Super Bowl action, if that’s your thing.

I caught maybe 2 commercials and a series of plays as my two-and-a-half year-old daughter’s bath and bedtime consumed most of my evening, as usual.

Did I miss any must-see commercials or plays? Please reply to this email and let me know what I need to check out today.

CAN’T MISS 🎯

🎶 Torey Krug’s 5 assists lead the Blues to 7-2 victory over the Canadiens. The Livonia, Michigan native got on the scoresheet early and often, assisting on Alexey Toropchenko and Jordan Kyrou’s 1st period goals, Nathan Walker’s 2nd period finish, and Jake Neighbours and Kyrou’s 3rd period tallies. Colton Parayko and Robert Thomas scored the only Blues goals not assisted by Krug. Thomas finished with a goal and three assists and Jordan Binnington made 30 saves for St. Louis, which has won seven of its past eight games. Read more →

🚨 J.T. Miller scores with 4.8 seconds left in overtime, Canucks defeat Capitals 3-2. The 30-year-old forward took advantage of a poorly timed Capitals’ turnover, as an errant Connor McMichael pass deflected off John Carlson’s skate right to Miller’s stick who made no mistake, sniping high blocker in the dying seconds of overtime for his 23rd goal of the season to snap Vancouver’s two game losing streak. Conor Garland scored his 9th midway through the 1st, Nils Hoglander buried his 16th midway through the 2nd, and Thatcher Demko made 31 saves in the Canucks’ win. Read more →

👨‍⚖️ Maple Leafs’ Morgan Rielly to have in-person hearing with NHL Player Safety Tuesday. The former 1st round pick took exception to Ottawa Senators’ Ridley Greig’s empty net goal Saturday night, whereby Greig took a slapshot into the empty net from just above the crease to seal Ottawa’s 5-3 win. Rielly immediately skated over and leveled Greig with a vicious cross check. Rielly has never been suspended in his 11-season NHL career and leads Maple Leaf defenseman with seven goals and 43 points in 50 games. Read more →
