CAN’T MISS HOCKEY NEWS 🎯

🥇 Team Canada wins 3rd consecutive Hlinka Gretzky Cup championship with 2-1 win over Czechia. Halifax Moosehead (QMJHL) forward Liam Kilfoil put Canada on the board 6:29 into the 1st period, banging home a backdoor pass from Brady Martin into the wide open cage for the 1-0 lead. Caleb Desnoyers of the Moncton Wildcats (QMJHL) extended the lead to 2-0 and scored the eventual game-winner in the last minute of the opening period, crashing the net and redirecting a Cameron Schmidt feed to the back of the net. And given the fact that their list doesn’t include Marc-Edouard Vlasic, Jack Campbell, or Johnny Gaudreau, it leaves much to debate. Here is their top-5:

  1. Jonathan Huberdeau

  2. Chandler Stephenson

  3. Tom Wilson

  4. Colton Parayko

  5. Damon Severson

Fortunately, YouTuber OhNyquist takes it a step further, highlighting his worst contract of every NHL team:

📆 NHL announces 2024-25 preseason schedule, beginning on Saturday, September 21st. It’s hard to believe that NHL preseason action is only 38 days away with the Penguins playing the Sabres, Blues battling the Stars, and Wild facing off against the Jets the 1st night, followed by 10 games the next day that includes Utah Hockey Club’s 1st preseason game against the Blues in Des Moines, Iowa. In total, the 2024-25 preseason schedule includes 106-games over 15-days in 40 NHL and neutral-site venues in North America and Europe as NHL clubs widdle down and prepare their rosters for the grueling 82-game regular season.
