Even with the long weekend, today’s issue was a challenge to write as the hockey community continues to grieve the tragic loss of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau, last Thursday. 😢

🙏 RIP “Johnny Hockey” and Matthew Gaudreau. Last Thursday, the night before their sister’s wedding where they were both scheduled to be groomsmen, Johnny and younger brother Matthew Gaudreau were riding bicycles in their home state of New Jersey when a suspected drunk driver attempted to pass two cars in front him on the right shoulder, hitting the brothers from behind and killing them on the scene. Johnny leaves behind his wife Meredith and their two kids, Noa and Johnny. Matthew leaves behind his pregnant wife Madeline [please consider donating to support Madeline and Baby Tripp]. Johnny and Matthew played college hockey together at Boston College before Johnny went on to a 10-year NHL career where he racked up 243 goals and 500 assists for 743 points in 763 games played. 💰 Carolina Hurricanes sign Seth Jarvis to 8-year, $63.2 million contract. The 22-year-old center set career-highs last season burying 33 goals and adding 34 assists for 67 points and +23 in 81 games played while averaging 18:45 of ice time. The former 1st round pick was second only to Sebastian Aho on the Hurricanes in goals, assists, and points last season. The long-term deal is said to include $29.2 million in signing bonuses while carrying an average cap hit of $7.9 million per season. Read more →

Denmark, Slovakia, and Latvia have earned their places in the men's hockey tournament at the 2026 Milan Olympics. Each team secured their spot by winning all three of their qualification round games on home ice. On Sunday, Denmark triumphed over Norway with a 4-1 victory; Slovakia overcame Kazakhstan 3-1; and Latvia defeated France 5-2. They’ll join the United States, Canada, Sweden, Finland, Czechia, Germany, Switzerland, and host nation Italy in the Olympic competition. Read more →
