  • Alex Ovechkin (853) is 42 regular season goals away from breaking Wayne Gretzky’s all-time goal record (894).

    • Sidney Crosby is 8 goals away from 600 career goals and 10 goals away from passing Jari Kurri (601) for 23rd all-time.

    • Fellow Pittsburgh Penguin Evgeni Malkin is two goals away from 500 career NHL goals. He would be just the 2nd Russian-born player to record 500 NHL goals.

    • Patrick Kane is 29 goals away from 500 career goals… 32 goals puts him in 5th all-time among American-born players, assuming you count Brett Hull as American.

  • Sidney Crosby is 4 points away from 1,600 career points and 46 points away from overtaking Joe Sakic (1,641) for 9th all-time.

    • Alex Ovechkin needs 50 points to hit 1,600 career points.

  • Connor McDavid needs 18 points to record 1,000 career points.

    • Brad Marchand is 71 points away from 1,000 career points.

    • Nathan MacKinnon is 101 points shy of 1,000 career points.

  • Sergei Bobrovsky is 4 wins away from 400 career wins and 6 wins away from overtaking Chris Osgood (401) for 13th all-time… if he records 28-40 wins this season, he’ll finish the year 10th all-time.

    • Jonathan Quick needs 7 wins to become the first American-born goaltender to record 400 career wins.

🏆 Kyle Okposo finally gets his day with the Stanley Cup after global IT outage delay. The 36-year-old NHL veteran had his initial day with Cup canceled as the flight transporting Lord Stanley from St. Louis (for Matthew Tkachuk) to Minnesota was grounded due to a recent CrowdStrike update that impacted IT systems globally, particularly affecting the airline, banking, and healthcare industries, among others. Okposo’s original plan for his day was canceled due to the chaos but fortunately his time with Lord Stanley was just delayed and not canceled as the St. Paul native celebrated with the Cup back home. 📏 The KHL announces new overtime rule for Junior Hockey League, NHL should consider implementation. In an effort to curtail long periods of puck possession without any shot attempts, players in the KHL’s junior league will not be allowed to skate the puck back to their own half of the ice during overtime. Violations will result in a faceoff in the offending team's end, with subsequent infractions leading to minor penalties. Since introducing 3-on-3 overtime in the 2015-16 season, the NHL has considered similar overtime rules such as a shot clock, like the NBA. Read more →
