👑 Kings sign RFA Quinton Byfield to 5-year, $31.25 million extension. The former 2nd overall pick in the 2020 draft set career highs in goals (20), assists (35), points (55), power play points (14), and plus-minus (+19) in 80 regular season games last season, while collecting four assists in 5 playoff games before the Kings were eliminated by the Edmonton Oilers for the third consecutive postseason. Coming off his three-year, entry level contract, the 21-year-old forward has 88 points (28 goals, 60 assists) in 179 career games. His new contract will carry an average annual value of $6.25M through the 2028-29 season. Read more →

🔒 Rangers secure defensive depth, re-sign Braden Schneider and Chad Ruhwedel. The New York Rangers re-signed 22-year-old Braden Schneider, a restricted free agent, to a two-year contract worth $1.65 million. The former 19th overall draft pick set career highs in assists (14), points (19), average ice-time (15:54) and games played (82) last season. Additionally, the Rangers re-signed Chad Ruhwedel to a one-year deal worth $775k. Ruhwedel, a reliable 3rd-pair defenseman acquired from the Penguins at this year’s trade deadline, recorded two assists in 47 games last season with 364 regular season and 25 playoff games to his resume, including 6 games played during the Penguins 2017 Stanley Cup run.
