Good morning. Whether it was signing Patrick Kane this week or the fact the Red Wings are in a three-way tie with the Leafs and Lightning for 3rd place in the Atlantic without him to date, 75% of yesterday’s poll participants believe Detroit will make the playoffs for the first time since 2016.

After qualifying for the playoffs 25 consecutive seasons from 1991 to 2016, it’s really hard to believe they haven’t earned the right to battle for Lord Stanley since.

🚨 Joel Armia tips in game-winner with three minutes left, Canadiens comeback to defeat the Blue Jackets 4-2. The Finish-native and former 1st round pick of the Sabres tipped in a Mike Matheson shot for his 2nd goal of the season to break the late 2-2 tie. Alex Newhook sniped a loose puck to get the Habs on the board and Cole Caufield buried a rebound with a little over five minutes to play in the 2nd to tie the game at 2-2. Gustav Lindström scored an empty-netter and Sam Montembeault stopped 26 shots as the Canadiens ended their five-game road trip 3-2. Read more →

⚾️ Jimmy Vesey bats in late game winner, Rangers rally to beat Red Wings 3-2. The 30-year-old forward showcased incredible hand-eye coordination, batting a puck out of midair with just 4:15 remaining in the 3rd to break the 2-2 tie. Artemi Panarin opened scoring less than five minutes into the game before Mo Seider and Robby Fabbri scored 23 second apart midway through the 1st to give the Wings a 2-1 lead. K’Andre Miller buried a Mika Zibanejad feed to tie the game midway through the 3rd as the Rangers improve to 8-2-0 in their last 10 games. Read more →
