Golden Knights Extend Points Streak to 10 Games
Goaltender Adin Hill hit the jackpot when he moved to Las Vegas in 2022.
Before the San Jose Sharks traded Hill to the Vegas Golden Knights for a fourth-round draft pick, he was a goalie with a losing record. Since then, Hill is 32-11-2 in the regular-season and playoffs and has a Stanley Cup championship to show for his efforts.
Hill is continuing where he left off in June, making 37 saves to help the Golden Knights down the Montreal Canadiens 3-2 in a shootout Monday.
The win extended the Golden Knightsâ season-launching points streak to 10 games.
Vegas became the 20th team in NHL history to record a season-opening point streak of at least 10 contests, with seven of the previous 19 clubs going on to win the Stanley Cup.
âWe got 19 out of 20 points, so to me, thatâs pretty good. Weâre not going to push that aside or overlook it,â Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy told NHL.com. âWe havenât always looked our best, and Iâll be the first to say that. Tonight included. But itâs not easy to win⌠itâs not relying on the top guys. Our top guys are probably struggling a bit to get points on the table. Weâll need that eventually.â
The Golden Knights needed HIll to be sharp in this one, because this wasnât the Golden Knightsâ most proficient game of the season. Last season, Hill cemented his position as the Golden Knightsâ No. 1 goalie by going 11-4 in the playoffs. He was rewarded with a two-year contract extension averaging $4.9 million per season. This season, he is 5-0-1.
Jack Eichel had a chance to win it in overtime on a penalty shot, but couldnât convert.
Paul Cotter and William Carrier scored the Vegas regulation goals. Jonathan Marchessault and Shea Theodore netted the shootout goals that provided the victory.
William Karlsson assisted on Cotterâs goal to extend his point-scoring streak to seven games (three goals, six assists).
đť Pavel Zacha snipes OT winner, Bruins rally to beat Panthers 3-2. The 26-year-old Czech native assisted on Charlie McAvoyâs tying goal midway through the 3rd before beating Floridaâs Bobrovsky with a pinpoint low-blocker shot off a 2-on-1 rush in the overtime period to complete the come-from-behind victory. The Bruins found themselves down 2-0 after the 1st before captain Brad Marchand scored his 5th of the season early in the 2nd to halve the Panthers lead. Linus Ullmark made 35 saves as the Bruins extended their point streak to 9 games. Read more â
