Plus, Hagel secures the bag with Lightning, Jonathan Bernier retires, and a lot more.

Good morning. Last weekās poll was a tight one, with 52.8% of voters believing the Bruins make the playoffs this season. And one of our new readers hit us with some gold feedback:
āKeep calm and Bergeron! Oh, wait ... I forgot, Patrice said farewell. I guess Dave ... Oh, he's leaving too? Ok, ok, make that a VERY tenuous, lower case, small font "absolutely." I'll never cast a vote against Boston, even if it means going down with the ship!ā
First off, we must be living under a rock as we never heard the saying Keep Calm and Bergeron. Incredible!
Second, gotta love Steveās loyalty! š¢
Todayās Lineup:
Flames need to ignite trade talks
Lightning Brandon Hagel secures the bag
14-year veteran netminder Jonathan Bernier retires
HOF broadcaster Rick Jeanneret dies

Flames Need to Ignite Trade Talks Soon
Who knows how the Calgary Flames will perform in 2023-24, but their new general manager Craig Conroy may already be leading the league in pressure.
The Flames have several players ā including Elias Lindholm, Noah Hanifin, Mikael Backlund, Oliver Kylington and Chris Tanev ā eligible for unrestricted free agency next season.
The prevailing wisdom is that Conroy needs to either sign or trade Lindholm, Hanifin and Backlund. But a month before the launch of NHL training camps, Conroy hasnāt signed or traded any of them.
The only trade the Flames have made this summer is moving Tyler Toffoli to New Jersey for Yegor Sherangovich.
The Flames want to make a hockey trade, rather than acquire draft picks, because they arenāt looking to go into a rebuild mode. Sportsnet reports that deals havenāt happened because āstrong offers just havenāt been there.ā
The added pressure to make strong deals is that the organization first watched Johnny Gaudreau leave with Calgary getting nothing in return.
Then, Matthew Tkachuk told the team he was leaving. Calgaryās then-GM Brad Treliving traded him for Jonathan Huberdeau and MacKenzie Weegar.
Flames fans probably would argue that the deal hasnāt yet served the Flames well.
The largest impediment to moving players this summer has been in the reality that the majority of teams in the NHL donāt have the salary cap space to acquire big-salaried players.
But there are some teams interested. The Buffalo Sabres reportedly have interest in Hanifin and the Boston Bruins need a center like Lindholm or Backlund to replace the retiring Patrice Bergeron or David Krejci.
The Flames are trying to re-sign Lindholm. That may be the player they have the best chance of retaining.
