🚨 Connor McDavid scores and adds three assists to break Gretzky’s record, Oilers shellac Panthers 8-1. The Oilers’ captain finally tallied his 1st goal of the Stanley Cup Final and 1st point of the night, beating Sergei Bobrovsky low-blocker side off the rush just 73 seconds into the 2nd period to extend the Oilers lead to 4-1.

McDavid continued his dominance by assisting on Darnell Nurse’s first goal of the 2024 postseason (an absolute snipe) just minutes later. He also earned a secondary assist on Ryan Nugent-Hopkins’ power-play goal 13:03 into the 2nd, tying Gretzky’s record of 31 assists in a playoff year. McDavid surpassed the Great One in the third period, setting up Dylan Holloway’s second goal of the night with a beautiful centering pass.

McDavid finished the night with 38 points (6G, 32A) through 22 playoff games to lead the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs in scoring.

Mattias Janmark opened scoring 3:11 into the first with a shorthanded goal while Adam Henrique and Holloway added goals to provide a 3-1 lead by the first intermission.

Ryan McLeod clapped home his 3rd of the postseason with just over four minutes to play in regulation to extend the Oilers’ lead to 8-1.

Vladimir Tarasenko netted the Panthers’ lone goal, while Stuart Skinner made 32 saves for a .970 save percentage to earn his 1st win of the Stanley Cup Final.

"It's just one win, that's all it is," said McDavid. "It doesn't matter if you score eight or you score one, it's just one win. We've got to go to Florida, do a job and drag them back to Alberta."
