Calgary Flames Trade Talks: Influencing Stanley Cup Contenders

The Flames probably aren’t going to qualify for the NHL playoffs this season, but may have a say about who wins the Stanley Cup.

The Flames have already traded center Elias Lindholm and defenseman Nikita Zadorov to Vancouver, and are expected to move defensemen Noah Hanifin and Chris Tanev. They would like to move veteran goalie Jacob Markstrom, and rumors are circulating that Rasmus Andersson could also be moved.

✌️ Alex Ovechkin scores twice, adds assist, Caps beat Devils 6-2. The 38-year-old extended his point streak to nine games (8 goals, 5 assists) with an assist on Dylan Stromes’ 3rd period tally before ripping a laser wrist shot off the faceoff four minutes later to score his 15th of the season. Ovi added his 2nd of the night with just 33 seconds remaining in regulation. Connor McMichael scored twice for his 1st multi-goal game of his career, Strome finished with a goal and two apples, Michael Sgarbossa scored, and Charlie Lindgren made 27 saves at the Caps won their 2nd straight. 🍾 Adam Pelech wins it in overtime, Islanders top struggling Pens 5-4. The former 3rd round pick found a good time to score his 1st goal of the season, leading the Isle’s rush and blowing a wrister past the blocker side of the Pens’ Alex Nedeljkovic just 57 seconds into OT. Brock Nelson, Mathew Barzal, and Simon Holmstrom gave New York a 3-1 lead midway through the 2nd. Mike Reilly scored in the 3rd and Ilya Sorokin made 37 saves for his 17th win of the season. 🎯 Anton Lundell snipes OT winner, Panthers beat Senators 3-2. The 22-year-old Finn went high short-side from a sharp angle 1:36 into overtime for his 8th goal of the season and 1st OT game-winner of his career. The Panthers established a two goal lead thanks to Aaron Ekblad’s tally just 19 seconds into the game followed by Brandon Montour’s 4th of the season late in the 2nd period. The Senators rallied in the 3rd to force overtime. Sergei Bobrovsky made 28 saves for his 28th win of the season.
